FINALISTS FROM HOOVER ANNOUNCED:

Dear Hoover Middle School Artists and Families,

Thank you so much for helping your child pursue their artistic dreams and goals by allowing, and maybe even encouraging them, to participate in the National PTA Reflections Program.    It is quite inspiring to see all of the careful thought, reflection and creativity the students put into their artwork.

It is my privilege and pleasure to inform you that the Hoover student artists listed below were recognized by a panel of Arts professionals at the Hoover level of judging and has been officially submitted to the MCCPTA (Montgomery County Council PTA) as a contender against all of the artwork submitted by each of the MCPS schools that participate in this wonderful program.    Congratulations to you all!

A little bit about how this program works moving forward:
1)  All the art work that was submitted to me at the Hoover level, has been processed accordingly and submitted to MCCPTA's panel of judges; where they will judge all of the artwork submitted in each category and division.  Hoover is the Middle School division.  All Hoover entries submitted to MCCPTA will compete against every other middle school in MCPS that participated the program.
2)  MCCPTA will also select 3 individuals from each category and submit the entries to MDPTA; where the student artists will compete against every other County in Maryland (Howard, PG, etc) that submitted artworks in the same category/middle school division.
3) MDPTA will select 1 "winner" in each category to submit to the National PTA.  The Finalists will participate in the Reflections Program at the National PTA annual conference in the summer of 2020.
4) Once we receive the artwork back from MDPTA,  MCCPTA will host an annual Art Show in the Spring of 2020 (Date/Time TBD). We will keep you informed of timing and location as we learn about it.

I am honored and proud to announce that the following Hoover artists have been submitted to the MCCPTA (Montgomery County Council PTA) Reflections panel of judges:

PLEASE NOTE:
THERE ARE 3 Winners per category. There is NO FIRST, SECOND, THIRD PLACE.  All artists are listed in alphabetical order.

The 2019-2020 HOOVER REFLECTIONS FINALISTS
Literature
1. Elias Bernstein - Walking the Walls
2. Henna Jain & Chloe Darpino - Mirror of Truth
3. Lavanya Ravi - The Key of Kindness

Photography
1. Julia Levi - Sun In My Eyes

Visual Arts
1. Angie Chen - I Will Get There
2.Lisa He - Deep Inside a Person's Heart
3. Arielsi Li - Dreams & Struggles

We are so incredibly proud our very talented Hoover Middle School artists!  Everyone who participated in this program is a winner in our eyes!  Please keep in mind that this competition is not about talent! The Reflections program is about how well the artists REFLECT upon the theme and displays their REFLECTIONS in their artwork.  There are many requirements to follow per category, and some entries inevitably do not move forward due to technicality issues; ie: not following the exact requirements for each category; not submitting something digitally or in the wrong format, not numbering pages of literary works, dimensions and details of visual arts, etc.
Every student that takes the time and puts in the energy to make beautiful artwork, write beautiful poetry and songs, choreograph peaceful dances, produce films and videos, etc is a WINNER; simply because you worked hard and voluntarily chose to reflect upon the theme and create something unique and one of a kind.
All of the submissions listed above are in the hands of the MCCPTA and will be on display at the annual MCCPTA art show in the Spring 2019.  We will keep you abreast of the information as we receive it.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly in a private email to Stefie@Artescapades.com.

Wishing everyone a heartfelt congratulations and a very happy, healthy and ARTFUL 2020! Kindly respond to this email to ensure receipt. Thank you!

Artfully Yours,

Stefanie Heideman
