Chargers for the Cure
Hoover staff, PTA, students, parents, alumni, and friends walk together in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday June 2, 2012. The team, captained by Hoover Health teacher Diana Barceló, raised over $11,000 for the fight against breast cancer in 2011, and took top fundraising
honors in the Academic category, a category composed of dozens of teams from
area schools and universities! Join the team or support the walk by CLICKING HERE and visiting the Chargers for the Cure Team website.
Coffees
PTA-organized grade-level coffees—hosted by Hoover families—provide an opportunity to talk informally with Principal Billie-Jean Bensen and the grade-level team, and to get to know the parents and guardians of your children’s classmates and new middle school friends. Held for each class once in the Fall and once in the Spring. Watch Hoover Notes for time and place of these adult-only events.

Movie Night Under the Stars
Our first PTA Movie Night will be a chance to enjoy a family-friendly film and the company of our community as we celebrate and wind-down the year. Our premier will be May 18, 2012.
National PTA Reflections Program ![]()
Hoover students again will be participating in this National PTA-sponsored cultural arts program. This year’s theme—“Diversity Means…”—offers students the opportunity to express their ideas creatively through dance, literature, music, photography, visual arts, film, and video.
Skate Night
Hoover takes over Cabin John Ice Rink one Winter evening each year to skate with friends, staff, and family! This year, Hoover Skate Night was held Saturday, January 21, 2012, 6-8 PM. Rock the Maroon!

Student Service Learning Fair
Our Hoover PTA-Sponsored Student Service Learning (SSL) Fair provides students and parents and guardians the opportunity to learn about the SSL requirement for high school graduation and to meet representatives from local organizations that need student volunteers. Our second annual Fair was held in October.

School Support
Hoover PTA in 2011-2012 has budgeted over $29,000 for financial support to Hoover Middle School. Those funds, gathered entirely from PTA membership and voluntary donations, support grade-specific programs, media center and health room needs, the purchase of student agenda books, teacher stipends for classroom needs, and fully fund the Shakespeare enrichment program.
In addition, Hoover PTA leads the charge to earn FREE cash for Hoover Middle School through a variety of corporate programs, including Giant A+ School Rewards (Hoover's ID is 00753).

Staff Appreciation
Hoover PTA celebrates our staff all year long, from encouraging parents to submit thank you messages via Hoover Props, to festive meals to staff meeting snacks to small tokens of encouragement to our Staff Appreciation Week extravaganza in May.
Our next staff appreciation event will be an All-Chocolate Post-MSA Staff Breakfast on March 22, 2012. Watch Hoover Notes for details on how YOU can help!
